When Hope Feels Heavy: Navigating Exhustion, Frustration, Fear, and Defeat

Join us for a special virtual morning meet-up designed for connection and collaboration. This month, a very special guest, Dr. Alex Walker, will lead a conversation about how we help others thrive when we ourselves are facing uncertainty.

Dr. Alex invites participants to complete a brief assessment ("Are you EFFD?") to prepare for our conversation about what these experiences look like in our professional and personal lives, where they show up most often, and what helps us move forward when we are faced with difficult situations. You will receive the link in your registartion confirmation email. Here's an overview of what to expect:

Many of us entered human serving fields because we believe in growth, potential, and helping people thrive. But what happens when you're the one facing uncertainty? Layoffs, organizational change, prolonged job searches, shifting expectations, family disruptions, and the emotional weight of supporting others can leave even the most resilient professionals feeling exhausted, frustrated, fearful, or defeated. During our time together, we'll engage in a facilitated conversation about what these experiences look like in our professional and personal lives, where they show up most often, and what helps us move forward when hope is harder to access. Come grab a cup of coffee, bring your experiences, and join a conversation about staying hopeful, engaged, and human in uncertain times.

Learning Objectives:

  • Greater awareness of their personal EFFD patterns
  • Practical ideas they can begin using immediately
  • New connections with colleagues facing similar challenges

Whether you’re navigating change, launching new initiatives, or simply looking to expand your circle of support, this is a space to explore current challenges and share practical insight with fellow talent development professionals. You might find yourself swapping onboarding strategies, talking about the impact of AI on learning, or exploring how to show ROI on your programs.

Come connect with familiar faces and new voices as we build a stronger, more inclusive network one morning at a time.
