Implementing Design Thinking to Craft Global Learning Experiences

Join us to learn about how implementing design thinking helped Mars create a new global leadership program. Peek behind the process as, Summer Davies (Mars) and Grant Simmons (Partner at TiER1 Performance Solutions), discuss how they worked together to build a new learning experience that aligned with company values, impacted a global audience, and looked really good; all in an accelerated timeframe. They will share their lessons learned and challenges/solutions they learned to participants can apply design thinking to their current instructional design practices and leadership programming needs.

Summer is a driven and enthusiastic leader, passionate about leadership and organizational performance. Summer believes that work should bring purpose and fulfillment to all people; and the best organizations are capable of delivering an environment where engagement thrives.

Summer started her career in the equine industry where she learned that tenacity and grit blended with grace, to create elegant solutions both in the barn and in business. Summer joined Mars Inc. in 2007 running one of the 1,000+ Banfield Pet Hospitals. In 2010, she changed roles, finding her true home in the world of leadership development. In her current role, Summer has global responsibility for leadership capability building solutions across Mars. 

Summer remains a dedicated equestrian and has become a sub-par snowboarder. Summer's most important role is mom to her two daughters, who are her inspiration and joy.

Grant has spent the last six years in the people space; including global talent management, learning and organizational development. Prior to that, Grant spent five years leading others in landscape operations at the largest landscape company in the world. Grant loves variety. He is a level 1 CrossFit Trainer, is a volunteer personal finance coach, brews his own hard cider and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver.
