ATD Rocky Mountain Chapter programs are pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute for continuing education credits towards recertification by Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credential holders.

The specific number of points is determined based on the direct contact hours provided during each program with breaks, lunch and pre-work time omitted. Regular chapter meetings, networking opportunities and SIG meetings will not count for professional development unless there is a content component aligned with the capability model.

Join us for an engaging four-part book club series:

Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseveranceby Angela Duckworth argues that grit—a combination of passion and long-term perseverance—is a better predictor of success than talent or IQ. Drawing on her research and personal experiences, Duckworth shows how grit can be developed through deliberate practice, resilience, and a "Hard Thing Rule," using examples from West Point cadets to National Spelling Bee finalists. The book suggests that sustained effort and a marathon-like mindset are key to achieving long-term goals, offering insights for parents, educators, and individuals.

    Reading cadence

    Session 1: JUN 4 - What is Grit, Really? Introduction +Chapters 1-3

    Session 2: JUN 25 - Passion - Where Grit Begins: Chapters 4-6

Session 3: JUL 16 - Perseverance - The Grind Side of Grit: Chapters 7-9

Session 4: AUG 6 - Grit in the Real World: Chapter 10-Conclusion

ATD RMC Members who attend at least three of the four scheduled discussions will be eligible to have the cost of the book reimbursed to them (up to $10).

We encourage participants to explore a variety of options when securing this book to read. As an older selection, it is possible to find gently used versions of this selection at a significant discount.

Participants will receive the zoom link(s) after registering.

Career Club is a free monthly gathering for ATD Rocky Mountain members ($25/ session for non-members) who are navigating the job search, whether you've been at it for two weeks or two years, whether you're actively applying or just starting to think about what's next.

Each session includes a 15-minute coaching topic from an ICF-certified career coach, followed by small group breakout conversations and optional hot seat coaching so you can get your most pressing questions answered.

Topics span the full job search: strengths, values, resumes, LinkedIn, interviewing, and negotiating. Topics may shift based on group needs. Here's a tentative plan for topics:

October 15 — Interviewing: Own the Room

November 19 — How to Network When You Hate Networking

            December 17 — Year-End Reflection and 2027 Planning

Every session closes with a personal commitment to keep your search moving forward.

Third Thursday of each month, 9:00–10:00 AM MT, via Zoom.

When you register, you'll receive a link to our shared resource space. Inside you'll find:
