ABOUT the Presenters:

Mike Hess. BIT was founded in February 2013 by Michael Lynn Hess, a legally blind individual who has bucked the trends by spending 20 years in large companies managing multi-million dollar IT projects on-time and on-budget. As such, Mike believes that with the proper education, training, and career opportunities, others in the blind community can prove their abilities to soar in corporate America. Mike was fortunate because he grew up in a family that never considered him disabled. His parents refused to send him to schools for blind and deaf children, so Mike was placed in special learning programs in public schools. It was this experience that gave him the confidence and determination to achieve as any other individual can. Through his trials and tribulations and incredible successes, Mike formulated a plan now called BIT that can benefit others so that they, too, can contribute back to society while experiencing the joys of personal accomplishment and success.

Brooke Martellaro. Brooke is a seasoned and sought-after business professional, recognized for her work in leading complex projects, developing strategies and directing high performance teams to advance key initiatives. She spent 20+ years honing her skills in the demanding corporate headquarters of multiple media companies and as a CPA in a global accounting and financial services firm. Over the course of her career, she’s mastered various finance and communications disciplines, served as a trusted sounding board and adviser to senior executives and been a key player in multiple corporate transactions — including M&As, IPOs and reorganizations.
