Have you considered joining the ATD Rocky Mountain Chapter board?

With the turn of the year approaching, there are always shifts within the chapter board -- some board members choose to move to a different role to expand their experience, and some board members decide to depart. With the merging of the ATD Northern Rockies and ATD Pikes Peak chapters into the Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC), new roles have evolved to ensure regional representation.

Some benefits of serving on the chapter board include:

  • Building stronger relationships with other chapter members
  • Influencing the direction and programming of the chapter
  • Giving back to your professional community
  • Gaining experience in a type of role that's new to you
  • Receiving an ATD national membership, paid for by RMC

We have roles on the board to fill for 2023.

We are seeking volunteers for the two board positions below. If you're interested, please email Paul at president.elect@atdrmc.org.

VP Programming. The vice president of programs and events oversees the chapter’s programming function, including responsibility for topic/speaker selection, site selection, and overall meeting management and reporting. (RMC will now hold 2 VPs of Programming to aid in the program’s function)

VP Communications. The vice president of marketing & communications is an elected officer of the Chapter. This position oversees activities related to communication among the chapter members at large, and communication with the community and other professional associations. Additionally, this position oversees activities related to the marketing of chapter initiatives.

Time commitment for VP roles on the board:

  • Term: 15 months*
  • 12 months as an active board member
  • 3 months to coach incoming replacement
  • *This position can be held for longer than the stated term if the board member would like to continue in the role an additional year

Board member requirements:

  • Attend at least 50% of the monthly chapter programming events
  • Attend monthly virtual board meetings
  • Hold a RMC Membership
  • Hold a National Membership (paid for by RMC)

Most if not all of the employees we serve as talent professionals are currently going through transformations driven by a variety of forces:

  • pandemic pivots
  • the launching of disruptive technologies
  • hybrid work environments

Based on these facts, if you visit the ATD website and do a fast search on upskill and reskill, you’ll find multiple resources for talent professionals around how to do just that… for others.

Insert a bit of irony here, as it tends to be true that even as many are navigating the latest evolution of the various skills needed for the future for the clients and employees we serve, there are glaring questions many may be forgetting to ask:

  • What about us?
  • What should we be focusing on to develop ourselves?
  • What trends might I want to consider for an ever-evolving future?

The reality: it is as critical that you focus on your own capacity to upskill and right skill in order to be able to meet future demands of doing the same in service to others. To provides some high-level guidance and to begin to grow our understanding of just what this will entail, we’ve put together a panel of talent professionals to explore this topic. The discussion will highlight:

  • emerging trends in adult education, organizational culture and HR management
  • thoughtful consideration of future possibility
  • tactical ideas for actions to consider for your own journey

Our blended panel will offer perspectives for corporate talent professionals, talent management consultants, and HR professionals working with talent processes.
