Upskill and Reskill Yourself

Panel Discussion: Talent Development for Talent Development Professionals

Most if not all of the employees we serve as talent professionals are currently going through transformations driven by a variety of forces:

  • pandemic pivots
  • the launching of disruptive technologies
  • hybrid work environments

Based on these facts, if you visit the ATD website and do a fast search on upskill and reskill, you’ll find multiple resources for talent professionals around how to do just that… for others.

Insert a bit of irony here, as it tends to be true that even as many are navigating the latest evolution of the various skills needed for the future for the clients and employees we serve, there are glaring questions many may be forgetting to ask:

  • What about us?
  • What should we be focusing on to develop ourselves?
  • What trends might I want to consider for an ever-evolving future?

The reality: it is as critical that you focus on your own capacity to upskill and right skill in order to be able to meet future demands of doing the same in service to others. To provides some high-level guidance and to begin to grow our understanding of just what this will entail, we’ve put together a panel of talent professionals to explore this topic. The discussion will highlight:

  • emerging trends in adult education, organizational culture and HR management
  • thoughtful consideration of future possibility
  • tactical ideas for actions to consider for your own journey

Our blended panel will offer perspectives for corporate talent professionals, talent management consultants, and HR professionals working with talent processes:

Kimberly Jeter, a social impact consultant and talent professional with global experience who also supports ongoing professional development and networking for other consultants as a member of the Consultant Connection Coffee Chat Community advisory committee;

Danae Atkins, an HR Director for Ball Corporation who recently made a move from Talent into HR business partner work; and

Shawna Simcik, who as a President and Co-founder of ICC, has been partnering with talent professionals for years regarding career placement and development options.
